Did you know... that Miguel Enríquez went from being a shoemaker to being one of the most wealthy and influential figures in the New World?
Supposedly he is considered the most successful privateer in the Hispanic world and yet he lived his last years in abandonment and complete poverty... That is not being successful. The most successful privateer in the Hispanic world was undoubtedly Amaro Pargo, who died peacefully at home, retired after decades as a merchant in the Indies and privateer, rich and noble.
