John Cena is actually 16 time WWE champion, not 13. Skmonkey22 (talk) 15:13, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Not correct. He's a 16-time world champion, not WWE. This includes both his WWE and WHC reigns. — Czello (music) 15:36, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

14 Time WWE Champ

the champ is here! 2406:2D40:6903:8910:3177:1D5A:5208:6BD4 (talk) 02:58, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Cena is now an 18-Time Champion (April 2025)

[edit]

John Cena is an 18 time World Champion, as WWE have confirmed the the Universal Title is still active, so by winning the Undisputed Title, you win both belts! When WWE update the title page, if John is shown as WWE and Universal Champion, then it means he's 18 time champion! When Cody won the title, the WWE title page showed him as WWE Champion and Universal Champion.

That’s what confuses me. Cena is a 17 time world champion, recognized by WWE. But he also just won the Universal Championship. I would wait for WWE to update their page on wwe.com, as it still displays Bron Breakker as Intercontinental Champion and Cody Rhodes as WWE Champion. WWE have yet to update the WWE Championship and WWE Universal Championship records, as Cody is still listed as Champion for both titles. I have a feeling something is going to happen, tonight on RAW. Either the WWE World or the WWE Universal Title will be retired and The Undisputed Title will just be one single title again — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.97.236.62 (talkcontribs)

It could happen, but we thought the same thing when Cody won the title a year ago. Ultimately this is a weird in-between where WWE are saying two contradictory things. Yes, their website lists both titles as active. However, they're also only recognising Cena has a 17 time champion. It's not on us to be able to square this circle (forgive the pun) as this would be WP:OR. Ultimately we just have to say what the sources say. FWIW, at the time of writing their website hasn't been updated and still shows Cody as champion, so let's wait and see. — Czello (music) 16:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They're still showing Cody as champion because they have no idea how to fix this issue, probably waiting on clarification from Triple H and management. They updated all of the title changes except this one :D 37.116.105.33 (talk) 17:57, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
gonna be wild if they retcon cody out of being the universal champion.Muur (talk) 21:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've had another look at the Superstar page on WWE.com and Cody HAS been removed as Universal Champion. The last recorded champion was Roman Reigns. https://www.wwe.com/titlehistory/universal-championship — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.97.236.62 (talkcontribs)
so theyve retconned it then. cody should be considered to be universal champion still.Muur (talk) 01:28, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
